Role Overview

We are looking for an Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our UK Team! We are looking for a hands‑on Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our AVS team, working on high‑performance embedded computing systems used in aerospace and defence applications. Other applications may include products such as flight recorders, air data computers and video systems. This role is focused on the design and development of complex PCBs, including high‑speed digital interfaces such as PCIe and Ethernet, within ruggedised VPX/XMC‑based systems deployed in military aircraft. You will be involved across the full product lifecycle – from early concept and schematic design through to layout, bring‑up, test, qualification, and production support. This is a practical engineering role. You will be expected to design, build, debug, and improve real hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop multi‑layer PCBs for high‑speed embedded systems
  • Work on interfaces including PCIe and Ethernet
  • Contribute to schematic capture and guide PCB layout with signal integrity, grounding, and EMC in mind
  • Support board bring‑up, debug, and verification in the lab
  • Work across analogue, digital, and power domains
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams
  • Support environmental and qualification testing
  • Contribute to design reviews and technical decision‑making
  • Support production and resolve issues in deployed hardware

Qualifications

  • Experience in electronic design
  • Understanding of high‑speed design, grounding, and EMC and willingness to develop
  • Experience with Altium, OrCAD, or similar
  • Desirable: VPX / XMC experience
  • DC‑DC PSU design
  • Aerospace / Defence background (CDR, PDR, DO245 etc)
  • Qualification testing exposure
  • Hands‑on debug and lab experience
  • Practical, problem‑solving mindset
