Project Archivist – Warner Textile Archive
Job Title: Project Archivist
Salary: £26,861 per annum
Hours: Full time
Terms: temporary contract until March 2027
Are you passionate about archives, collections and digital access? Do you want to play a leading role in unlocking one of the UK’s most significant textile archives for future generations?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Project Archivist to join the Warner Textile Archive team and deliver the cataloguing and digitisation workstream of our Digital Threads Project.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a nationally important collection of textile designs, fabrics, archive records and associated objects, helping to transform access to the collection through enhanced cataloguing, digitisation and online engagement. The successful candidate will contribute directly to making the Warner Textile Archive more accessible to researchers, communities and audiences worldwide.
Working closely with the Archive team, students and volunteers, you will lead the development of high‑quality catalogue records and digital resources, applying recognised professional standards including SPECTRUM, ISAD(G) and ISAAR(CPF). You will also help shape digital preservation workflows and support the development of future online access to the collection.
We are looking for someone who combines strong archive or collections management experience with excellent attention to detail, enthusiasm for digital technologies and a collaborative approach to working with volunteers and colleagues.
In return, we offer:
- The opportunity to work with a unique and nationally significant textile archive.
- The chance to make a lasting contribution to a major collections’ cataloguing and digitisation project.
- Experience of developing innovative approaches to digital access and preservation.
- Opportunities to contribute to research, public engagement and interpretation of the collection.
This role would suit an archivist, collections professional or museum practitioner looking to develop their expertise in cataloguing, digitisation and digital collections management within a distinctive heritage setting.
