University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us. This role is part of the Women and Newborn Care Group at the Princess Anne Hospital, supporting patients with overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, pelvic floor disorders, including prolapse. The service offers a wide range of investigations, treatments and care pathways, and triages a large volume of patients each day.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 16:30, with flexibility at interview. Responsibilities include:
- Providing safe therapeutic management of a defined patient caseload.
- Working closely with a multi‑professional team across urogynaecology consultants, special pelvic mesh complications service, pre‑assessment, early pregnancy/gynae assessment unit, Bramshaw women’s unit, theatres, and maternity.
- Understanding urogynaecology and assisting within urodynamic clinics.
- Participating in diagnostic urodynamic studies and delivering conservative therapies under nurse‑led urogynae service.
- Receiving training and support to achieve full knowledge and skills required by the role.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of a Band 5 entry with a Degree qualification, 120 credits at Level 6, or equivalent experience.
- Competent in urodynamic studies, or motivation to undertake training and achieve competence.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and work independently with initiative.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria:
- Registered nurse on the relevant part of the NMC register.
- Degree qualification or equivalent 120 credits at Level 6.
- Post‑registration qualification within the specialty or equivalent experience.
- Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies.
- Evidence of supporting/ managing a range of learners in practice.
- Extensive post‑registration experience within a specialist area.
- Knowledge of current issues within the acute health service.
Desirable criteria:
- Registered on MSc Pathway – completion of HTPA competencies.
- Experience acting as a practice assessor or supporting learner progression.
- Counselling qualification.
- Palliative care course.
- IT training.
- Change management or clinical practice development experience.
