Immunotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist

As an Immunotherapy clinical nurse specialist you will be providing expert care, advice, and support to patients and their families/carers undergoing immunotherapy treatment.
Main duties of the job
- Developing the immunotherapy service and associated policies.
- Become the subject matter expert on immunotherapy.
- Improve patient experience in the specialist area.
- Be the lead for immunotherapy education and training.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills, and innovative practice.
- Run immunotherapy clinics; independent prescribing preferred.
- Co-ordination of care.
Job responsibilities
- Develop the immunotherapy service.
- Lead immunotherapy management across the Trust.
- Lead service development to improve patient experience.
- Lead immunotherapy education and training.
- Be an expert clinical practitioner, demonstrating advanced clinical competence and autonomy while working with the MDT.
- Assess, manage, deliver, and coordinate the plan of care for patients utilising effective and efficient use of resources.
- Demonstrate advanced practice in holistic assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within your speciality; receive direct referrals and ensure appropriate care for a caseload of patients.
- Plan and manage your caseload and the workload of the service, flexibly ensuring service provision meets patient needs.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills, innovative practice in relevant specialist area; maintain nursing documentation reflecting advanced practice.
- Prescribe, as a qualified Independent Nurse Prescriber, within the scope of your practice.
- Demonstrate knowledge of clinical trials related to the specialist area.
- Identify audit/research opportunities with the team, source funding, and initiate projects.
- Understand and accept the parameters of the role, working within scope of practice, and agree changes if needed.
- Refer to other disciplines when outside your expertise and seek advice as required.
- Act as a source of advice and knowledge for patients, carers and healthcare professionals within and across organisational boundaries.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current NMC Registration.
- Post Registration Specialist Qualification.
- Have or be working towards a relevant Degree Qualification.
- Continuous personal and professional development.
- Leadership experience/management training.
- Completion of UKONS SACT Passport and evidence of SACT/immunotherapy competency.
- Counselling Skills Training.
- Post Registration Teaching Qualification.
- MSc/Post Graduate Diploma.
- Independent Non-Medical Prescriber.
Experience
- Ability to respond to psychosocial and spiritual issues.
- Experience in Oncology and Haematology.
- Experience of working in a multi-professional environment.
- Ability to advise on complex symptom management.
- Able to prioritise and manage own workload.
- Ability to initiate and manage change through transformation.
- Previous experience as a specialist nurse.
- Extensive experience post- registration.
- Band 6/7 experience.
- Post Graduate Certificate Ed.
- Audit/Research Skills.
- Physical Assessment Skills.
Skills
- Knowledge of local and national initiatives relating to immunotherapy/SACT treatments.
- Evidence of good multi-disciplinary liaison skills.
- Demonstrated teaching experience and skills.
- Ability to work hours flexibly.
- Assertive, confident but approachable.
- Knowledge or skills in caring for patients within the cancer setting.
- Confidence to adapt to an evolving and changing service.
