Mental Health Support Worker

Pebble Lodge, a purpose-built 10‑bed general adolescent unit for young people aged 13 to 18 with acute and severe mental health problems, is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Mental Health Support Worker to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out tasks identified by trained nursing staff in relation to young people’s needs.
  • Assist in organised activities and help create a safe, supportive atmosphere for residents.
  • Provide emotional support to young people as needed.
  • Report relevant information to senior staff and participate in multidisciplinary and risk‑management meetings.
  • Make accurate observations and record data in the RiO patient records system.
  • Work a flexible schedule of 25+ hours per week; full‑time is also an option.
  • Provide weekend and night cover (enhanced pay).
  • Support the unit car as a driver; complete a driving course and adhere to safety requirements.
  • Complete a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course before commencing work.

No visa sponsorship is available for this role; candidates must hold the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrable written and spoken English skills.
  • Experience working with children, young people and families with mental health disorders.
  • Basic IT skills and familiarity with electronic record‑keeping.
  • Physical fitness to perform physical intervention or break‑away techniques following training.
  • Valid UK driving licence, with no serious driving offences and availability to travel via own vehicle for Trust business.
  • Clear DBS check (Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service). The Trust will cover the cost of the check.

Salary and Benefits

£25,760 to £27,476 a year (pro‑rata for part‑time). Enhanced pay for weekend and night shifts.
