Senior Planning Policy Officer

Our client is a Local Authority based in the East Midlands and requires a Senior Planning Policy Officer for a contract role to assist with the delivery of their Local Plan and evidence base. The plan must be completed by the end of September and several workstreams require immediate support.

Responsibilities

• Site Selection – reviewing SLAA/SLAAR submissions, completing site selection proformas, and assessing suitability.
• Infrastructure Delivery Planning – analysing responses from infrastructure providers and building the infrastructure delivery plan.
• Neighbourhood & Local Centres – policy work around local shopping centres and community hubs.
• Evidence Base Management – ensuring all evidence aligns under the Local Plan “umbrella”.
• Day to day – processing the SLAAR (Strategic Land Availability Assessment Review).

Qualifications

• Relevant degree level qualification; preferably professional accreditation.
• Demonstrable understanding of UK town planning procedures and experience in planning policy work.
• Experience in public participation/engagement and fostering collaborative relationships within the community.
• Holding a Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute is beneficial.

Contract Details

• Contract length: 3 months initially, with possibility of extension.
• Rate: £33.95 per hour (Umbrella); room to negotiate.
• Role is inside IR35.

Working arrangements

Hybrid working; you’ll need to go into the office twice a week.
