Overview
The post holder will support the delivery of PBL and Clinical Skills across the MB BS programme. Responsibilities span teaching, leadership, assessment, admissions and support for the learning environment.
Teaching
- Work with the Director of PBL and Clinical Skills (or other Deputy Director of PBL & Clinical Skills) to develop innovative approaches to teaching within PBL and Clinical Skills and more widely across the MB BS programme consistent with the HYMS ethos and approach to education.
Leadership & Management
- Responsible for and support the day-to-day delivery of PBL/Clinical Skills Teaching at one campus site.
- Facilitate Action Learning Sets to support the Clinical Educational Facilitator Community of Practice.
- Undertake annual face-to-face appraisal of Clinical Educational Facilitators.
- Work with the Director of PBL & Clinical Skills (or other Deputy Director) to develop and deliver PBL Tutor Reconvening and development sessions.
- Ensure alignment, delivery and assessment of the Phase 1 MB BS PBL and Clinical Skills Curriculum within Phase 1 and the wider MB BS and with PSRB requirements.
Assessment & Feedback
- Contribute to all assessment activities within Phase I including the Board of Examiners, standard setting and production of assessment papers.
- Collaborate with the assessment team regarding implementation of approaches to assessment consistent with the PBL & Clinical Skills approach.
- Collaborate with the Programme Delivery Assessment Team to ensure smooth delivery of “live” assessments in Phase I.
- Develop and direct colleagues in developing assessment materials including question writing/creation of OSCE stations/formative assessments.
Admissions
- Support the admissions team in recruitment of students to the MBBS 5‑years and MBBS 6‑years (with Gateway Year) programmes.
- Support widening participation schemes, open days and interviewing processes.
- Travel between Hull or York campuses as needed, in addition to delivering PBL & Clinical Skills to a specific student group.
Requirements
- Current PBL tutor with intention to continue in this role.
- 0.2 FTE allocation to be available across year 1 and 2 PBL & Clinical Skills teaching days.
- Must be on site during PBL and Clinical Skills teaching time.
- Proven experience of teaching and/or holding a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. If not, must undertake a Postgraduate Certificate in HE if successful.
