Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Based in Cambridge Area.

Salary Negotiable (Including Benefits).

Role and Responsibilities

Working on a range of development projects in the healthcare/medical device industry. The role combines project management duties, entailing all responsibilities consistent with successfully delivering projects to meet client needs, with hands‑on technical work as a senior mechanical engineer or technical lead, responsible for the delivery of innovative and robust designs of medical devices.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
• Experience in healthcare/medical products or similar devices/products/instrumentation with complex moving parts and assemblies.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering development projects in project management and technical lead roles, heading and as part of multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Proven track record in robust design and development of innovative products and devices; detailed design of components, mechanisms and assemblies for high‑volume manufacture.

Additional Desirable Skills

• 3D and 2D CAD (Solidworks or Pro E).
• Technical consultancy experience.
• Risk management.
• Medical device regulations.
• Business development.
• Mentoring and people development.

Personal Characteristics

• Structured and methodical problem‑solving with good analytical skills.
• Flexibility and a team player.
• Ideally project management experience.
• Ability to liaise with colleagues, clients and subcontractors at technical and non‑technical levels.
