Groundworks Apprenticeship Programme
We are currently seeking enthusiastic Groundworks Apprentices to participate in our Groundworks Apprenticeship Programmes, with two intakes starting in August and September 2026.
The successful apprentices will be based in and around one of the following areas: Oxfordshire, Leicestershire or West Midlands, UK. The college locations are either Lichfield (WS13) or Milton Keynes (MK6), and successful apprentices must be able to travel to one of the two campuses as and when required.
Qualifications
- Hold GCSEs in Maths & English at Level 2 or above.
- Be dedicated to undertaking the Level 2 Groundworks Apprentice Standard – minimum 18 months.
- Be available to start work from 10th August or 23rd November 2026.
- Can commute to either NHBC College WS13 or Milton Keynes College MK6.
- Have a full UK driving license or alternative reliable means of travelling to college and site.
Key Responsibilities
- Learning from experienced groundworkers and site managers, acquiring skills necessary for preparing sub‑surfaces for structural work to being on‑site.
- Ensuring Health & Safety guidelines are always upheld.
- Digging, shovelling and slabbing.
- Levelling stone and raking tarmac.
- Mixing of cement and concrete.
- Executing final touches on hard landscaping projects.

Package
- Weekly Hours: 07:30am to 16:30pm Monday – Friday (07:30am – 15:30pm if under 18yrs)
