Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Lewisham – Primary School

Location: Lewisham, South East London

Start Date: September 2026

Pay Rate: 120 per day PAYE (equivalent to approximately 140 per day via an Umbrella company)

Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning throughout the school. Responsibilities will include:

• Delivering whole‑class lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
• Supporting pupils across all primary year groups.
• Leading targeted intervention groups to raise attainment.
• Providing one‑to‑one support for individual pupils where required.
• Working closely with teachers and senior leaders to ensure pupils achieve their full potential.
• Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the school.

Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

• Hold HLTA status or have significant experience working at HLTA level within a primary school setting.
• Be confident leading whole‑class teaching sessions.
• Have experience supporting pupils across a range of ages and abilities.
• Be proactive, organised, and able to work independently.
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Have a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
