What is the opportunity?
You will provide day-to-day management of RBC’s global high-risk Capital Markets portfolio, focusing on minimising losses while maximising strategic client retention.
Job Description
As a member of a specialised team, you’ll handle complex, high-risk accounts through proactive relationship and risk management. Your role balances delivering tailored solutions that meet RBC’s risk standards with preserving long-term client relationships. Collaboration with internal partners (e.g., service teams, risk officers) and external professionals will be critical to resolving challenges and driving business opportunities.
This is a permanent, full-time role and requires 4 days in our 100 Bishopsgate office.
What will you do?
Client Experience
- Champion continuous improvement in client interactions, taking ownership of issues at first contact.
- Ensure clients are treated with respect, empathy, and professionalism while maintaining strong relationships.
- Proactively refer clients to RBC-wide expertise to enhance their experience.
- Deliver value-added financial advice and solutions tailored to meeting the objective of minimising loss and maintaining client relationships where possible.
Employee Capability & Engagement
- Maintain up-to-date skills/accreditations via a personal development plan.
- Participate in bank/industry events and foster a culture of recognition for client-focused behaviours.
Client Retention
- Leverage tools like Newton, MFA, and SLAS Learnings to strengthen advisory interactions.
- Build partnerships with Risk and Field teams to identify high risk situations early.
- Maintain a visible, positive presence (in-person/virtual) to promote Advisory Services.
Risk Management
- Negotiate terms and agreements to protect RBC’s short- and long-term financial interests.
- Address collateral/data issues, lending excesses, and compliance requirements (e.g., AML, fraud prevention).
- Manage portfolio health via timely reviews, borrower performance monitoring, and write-off processing.
- Follow protocols for risk rating changes, covenant breaches, and negative financial trends.
- Participate in Watchlist reviews and share restructuring insights via SLAS database updates.
- Prepare for portfolio reviews with senior leadership (VP/EVP) and engage external experts (lawyers, appraisers) as needed.
- Mitigate reputation risk through professional, consultative issue resolution.
- Establish file strategies within 45 days of transfer to your team.
