Staff Nurse (Outpatients)
Location: Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Rd, London (SW5 0TU)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Monday to Friday – 8am to 8pm; Saturday – 8am to 2pm
Salary: £37,080 a year dependent on experience
Job Summary
The Outpatients Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred care across outpatient services, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role supports the smooth running of clinics through patient assessment, care planning and coordination, maintains professional standards, supports junior staff, and plays a key part in ensuring a consistent patient experience across the directorate.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the delivery of a consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey while demonstrating a culture of customer service.
- Manage care of allocated patients.
- Demonstrate professional awareness and accountability.
- Maintain requirements to ensure success in the Revalidation process.
- Act as a Link Nurse in a designated area, reporting to and from meetings, training updates.
- Recognise the needs for DOL’s assessments, mental capacity assessment, and safeguarding referrals and highlight any concerns.
- Liaise with the Support Services to ensure all non‑clinical needs are met, including cultural, sexual, religious, and any other special needs of patients.
- Have a working knowledge of emergency policies including cardiac arrest and fire.
- Deputise for the Senior Staff Nurse in their absence.
- Undertake clinical duties in any area reasonably requested, while practising within professional competencies and abilities.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse and NMC PIN required.
- ILS qualification required.
- Competent with immunisation training, wound care management and venepuncture.
- Experience in a Staff Nurse role; outpatients experience desired.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal presentation skills, and report writing.
- Pleasant and cheerful manner; supportive and approachable.
