Catering Supervisor – Nelson Primary School, King Edwards Road. B1 2PJ

  • Permanent
  • Grade B – £28,598 – £34,434
  • Consultation grade – subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review
  • Salary is pro rata to the hours worked
  • Working 36.5 hours per week (Monday‑Friday term time only, daily hours to be confirmed)
  • Includes 3 cleaning days, 3 training days, and 5 teacher training days

Cityserve is a Birmingham City Council catering service for school meals providing fresh and nutritious food for school kitchens across the UK. Healthy eating is a continuous theme throughout our menus, and we are committed to the wellbeing of pupils.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, delivers excellent customer service, and is able to motivate and support team members.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking freshly made meals for pupils, including conveying to another site
  • Planning and controlling all aspects of the service
  • Keeping the kitchen clean & tidy
  • Costing, stock‑taking and maintaining appropriate records using Saffron and IT skills
  • Working with I Learning and Oracle
  • Staff training
  • Maintaining a menu with balanced diets and allergen control
  • Awareness of the care users’ needs and dietary preferences
  • Collaboration with managers and supervisors to ensure first‑class delivery of food in school kitchens

Qualifications and Requirements

Previous kitchen experience is essential for this role.
