Maintenance Operative

About the Role

Shift details: Monday to Sunday.

Maintenance Operative at Aire View Care Home in Leeds. Your focus will be to ensure the building and grounds are well maintained, undertake a variety of routine maintenance tasks and checks to services, apply basic fixes to equipment and systems, and keep all facilities functional.

Job Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs, including all electrical, plumbing, joinery and building work both inside and outside the home.
• Support new residents in arranging their rooms as they wish.
• Ensure routine re‑decoration is undertaken to maintain home standards.
• Advise on the supply and quality of items used for maintenance activities and arrange timely ordering of replacement goods.
• Provide out‑of‑hours emergency service by participating in the on‑call rota.

Requirements

• Have at least one year’s experience in a general maintenance or handy‑person role, and/or hold a professional trade qualification.
• Hold a full driving licence.
• Possess knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving & Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
• Be able to adapt to cover a range of responsibilities on short notice.
• Provide ADBS Disclosure check (cost met by Avery Healthcare) and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year’s experience in general maintenance or a related trade.
• Full driving licence.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety, Moving & Handling, Fire Safety and COSHH.
• Adaptability and flexibility in covering duties at short notice.
