Business Development Manager – Optical & Pharmaceutical Wholesale

Location: Chippenham, Wiltshire (Hybrid – 2 days/week)

Reporting to: Commercial Manager UK & ROI

Alliance is entering a pivotal phase of growth and we’re looking for a high-impact Optical & Pharmaceutical Wholesale Business Development Manager to lead a unique dual role: building a brand-new Optical Channel while managing a portfolio of established Pharmaceutical Wholesale accounts.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine new business development with strategic account leadership, working at the forefront of a growing, cross-channel healthcare business.

What you’ll be doing as Optical & Pharmaceutical Wholesale Business Development Manager

Build & Scale the Optical Channel

• Launch and grow our presence in the Optical market

• Onboard and manage optical wholesalers, from setup through to growth

• Win and develop partnerships with major optical retail chains

• Lead Joint Business Plans (JBPs) to drive long-term value

• Deliver impactful trade marketing and promotional strategies

• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless execution and onboarding

• Drive sustainable revenue, distribution, and margin growth

Lead Strategic Wholesale Accounts

• Manage key Pharmaceutical Wholesale relationships

• Own commercial negotiations (pricing, terms, promotions, ranging)

• Execute JBPs, forecasting, and demand planning

• Maximise performance while ensuring high service levels

• Build strong, long-term partnerships and act as trusted advisor

• Ensure compliance with governance and regulatory standards

What success looks like

• Delivery of sales, revenue, and profit targets

• Successful establishment of a high-performing Optical Channel

• Execution of best-in-class JBPs and customer partnerships

• Consistent operational excellence and service levels

What we’re looking for

• Proven success in Business Development or Strategic Account Management / Development experience

• Experience within optical sectors and Pharmaceutical / Healthcare wholesale

• Track record of winning new business and opening new channels

• Strong experience managing wholesale and/or retail accounts

• Skilled in commercial negotiation and strategic planning

• Confident in developing and delivering Joint Business Plans

• Highly driven, results-focused, and commercially astute

• Excellent relationship builder and influencer

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, matrix environment
