Job Overview

Starting salary £12.21ph, rising to £12.41 after successful completion of probation, and increasing to £12.60 after a further 12 months. The Victoria Park Grove service assists clients 24/7. We need enthusiastic, caring individuals to take clients to bowling, shopping, the community centre, bus rides, walks, and pub meals. Shifts include days, nights, and sleep overs.

Main Duties

  • Person‑Centred – Prepare person‑centred support plans with clients that reflect their views and aspirations, reviewing and amending as necessary and respecting their changing needs and wishes.
  • Respectful – Support clients to fulfil their aspirations and live as independently as possible, including accompanying them to social visits and events, supporting interests and hobbies, promoting choice, arranging activities and outings, and developing skills and knowledge.
  • Open – Communicate in an open and transparent way with clients and team members, acting with integrity and following through on commitments.
  • Understanding – Provide personal care to clients in a way that respects their choices and dignity, such as assistance with washing and toileting.
  • Dedicated – Keep accurate, complete records, including daily notes, with full client involvement.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Provide care and support that protects clients from abuse and exploitation, maintains dignity, and encourages positive risk‑taking.
  • Adapt to each client’s unique needs; no two days are the same.
  • Support quality inspection processes and cooperate with on‑site inspectors regarding information requests.
  • Work in accordance with Health and Safety requirements, including Manual Handling, Food Hygiene, Fire Safety, infection control, and Risk Assessment procedures.
  • Carry out household duties such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and other domestic tasks as needed.
  • Provide personal care in line with the client’s care plan.
  • Maintain accurate written and numerical records.
  • Perform a wide range of personal care and domestic duties specific to each service.
  • Meet physical requirements of the role, including climbing stairs, using hoists, pushing wheelchairs, moving people, and working overnight; adjustments considered under the Equality Act where needed.
  • Use computer packages (Word, Outlook, Internet) and undertake relevant training in care, if required.
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Communicate effectively with carers, families, inspectors, and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Care Certificate (or willingness to obtain one) and a current driver licence.
  • Desirable: Previous experience working in care.
