Cover Supervisor

Key Details

  • Position: Cover Supervisor (KS3 & KS4)
  • Location: Birmingham
  • Start Date: September 2026
  • Contract: Long-term supply
  • Pay: £500 – £750 per week (dependent on assignment and experience)

The Role

A secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026 on a long-term supply basis.

The successful candidate will supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of the usual class teacher, ensuring students remain on task and complete the work that has been set. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals considering a future career in teaching or those with previous experience working with young people in an educational setting.

You will be responsible for managing classroom behaviour, maintaining a positive learning environment, and supporting students to engage with their learning across a range of subject areas. While this role does not involve planning lessons, you will play a vital part in ensuring continuity of education and upholding the school’s expectations and standards.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally within a school setting
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate confidence in leading and managing groups of students
  • Be adaptable, organised, and able to work across a variety of subjects
  • Have effective behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Be committed to supporting students’ learning and well‑being
  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Sports Coach, Youth Worker, or Graduate would be advantageous.

The School

The school offers a welcoming and supportive environment with clear behaviour systems and a strong commitment to student achievement. Staff benefit from collaborative working relationships, ongoing support from senior leaders, and the opportunity to gain valuable experience within a secondary setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Cover Supervisor seeking a long-term supply role in Birmingham starting September 2026, offering competitive weekly pay and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to students’ education and development.

The Education Network is an equal opportunities employer.
