SEMH Teaching Assistant – Kidderminster

About the role

Justteachers is looking to recruit a committed and experienced Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEMH primary school in Kidderminster. This full‑time, long‑term role is set to begin in September 2026 and will continue throughout the entire academic year. It’s a rewarding opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the lives of students who need support the most.

The school caters to children aged 4 to 11 with a variety of social, emotional, and mental health needs, along with additional challenges such as autism (ASD), ADHD, and communication difficulties. Dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment, the school aims to help every student reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning plans.
• Support communication, sensory, and physical needs as part of a multi‑disciplinary approach.
• Foster a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment.
• Assist with personal care and mobility as required.
• Encourage independence, self‑esteem, and positive behaviour.

Pre‑requisites

• Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with SEMH pupils or in a behavioural, youth work, or care‑based setting is highly desirable.
• Two relevant references from educational or care settings.
• A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach.
