Community Support Worker (Support at Home) – Furness

Hourly Rate: £13.69 – £13.90 per hour (£14.43 including supplement – after 6 months)

A market supplement of £0.53p per hour is currently being applied to this role and will be payable once you have been in post for 6 months. The Market Supplement will be applied to both your basic salary and to any additional hours, uplifting the hourly rate to £14.43 per hour. There will also be the option to take this as a lump sum annually if preferred.

Available Hours: 18-24 hours per week

We are looking for caring and compassionate people to join our Support at Home Service in Furness, as Community Support Workers. The Support at Home service offers support to individuals recovering from illness or surgery and those facing a general decline in health. It helps prevent unnecessary hospital admissions by enabling care at home. The main goals are to promote independence, help individuals regain skills, and ensure safety while living at home.

Support at Home is a 365 day a year, 7 day a week service. Typically, our shifts run between the hours of 7:30 am – 9:30 pm and are worked over a fixed fortnightly working pattern. This will include weekend and Bank Holiday rotas.

About this opportunity

As a Community Support Worker, you will get the opportunity to know people individually and support their wellbeing through both physical and emotional care.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with medication administration and personal care such as washing and dressing.
  • Prepare meals, support with mobility needs and establish daily routines.
  • Help with household tasks and confidence building.
  • Encourage individuals to achieve or maintain independence and remain living in their local community.
  • Build positive relationships and support connection with local community activities.

Essential criteria

  • Access to a motorised vehicle and a full driving licence.
  • Willingness to work in an environment where service users may not be accessible via public transport.
  • Ability to adapt care to the individual’s level of support required.
  • Compassionate, caring, and motivated to promote independence.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with an Adults Barred List check. The role involves working in regulated activity with adults; applicants barred from working in regulated activity are not permitted to apply.
