An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research & Innovation department at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Research Facilitator.

This pivotal role within the Research Management & Governance Team supports the Research Manager and Head of Service in ensuring that all research at the Trust is effectively managed. It involves assisting researchers as they set up projects, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the administration of research funding.

The post holder will develop a detailed understanding of the purpose and principles of clinical research in the NHS, contributing to the growth of a multidisciplinary research portfolio.

This role requires you to have a current right to work in the UK which enables you to undertake the role without the need for sponsorship. Main Duties

The post holder will:

  • Process the capacity and capability assessment for research projects in line with Health Research Authority (HRA) guidelines and line manage staff who support this process.
  • Negotiate costings and contracts for both commercial and non-commercial research, supporting research income distribution within the Trust.
  • Develop, update and oversee relevant research databases and electronic filing systems, and support the generation of activity reports.
  • Assist researchers of all levels with the completion of relevant documentation for new projects and provide continued support throughout the project duration.
  • Work with support departments to ensure the safe and effective delivery of research projects.
  • Process all contracts/agreements and ensure appropriate funding is available to deliver studies in line with HRA approval conditions; operate the research passport scheme to issue honorary research contracts and letters of access.
  • Line manage the Research Delivery Support Administrators, overseeing all aspects of roles and providing ongoing training and development.
  • Ensure all internal & external monthly reporting is provided to stakeholders accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Generate and customise activity reports from the research database for submission to relevant governing bodies.

Qualifications

  • Educated to A level or equivalent or relevant experience.
  • ICHGCP certificate is mandatory (the successful candidate will be required to attend training upon starting in post).
  • Previous experience working in a research environment.
  • Experience working within the NHS.

Experience

  • Previous experience working at a high level administratively in a busy office environment.
  • Experience with databases and web-based applications.
