Job Title: Nursery Room Leader (Early Years)
Location: Nottingham
Purpose of the Role
To lead a nursery room (baby, toddler, or preschool), while also taking the first step into management. Ensuring high-quality care, learning, and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare & Development
- Plan and deliver engaging activities based on EYFS
- Monitor, assess, and record children’s development
- Support children’s emotional, social, and physical needs
Room Leadership
- Lead and supervise a team of nursery practitioners
- Delegate tasks and support staff development
- Maintain staff ratios and daily organisation
Safeguarding & Welfare
- Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing at all times
- Follow safeguarding policies and procedures
- Report concerns in line with legal requirements
Administration
- Maintain accurate records (learning journeys, observations)
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted standards
- Manage daily room routines and planning
Parent Partnerships
- Build strong relationships with parents/carers
- Provide feedback on children’s progress
- Support settling-in processes
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare
- Experience working in a nursery setting
- Strong knowledge of EYFS
- Experience supporting or leading a team
Desirable:
- Paediatric First Aid
- Safeguarding training
- Previous Room Leader or Senior Practitioner experience
