Role Summary
The Workday Product Owner for a part of the Workday capabilities, with the objective of providing optimal technology support for our HR strategy, driving employee experience and improving HR efficiency and effectiveness.
In working closely with the HR function, the transformation office and external partners, the role is responsible to understand, challenge and translate Workday Security and HCM business requirements into effective solutions, by combining technology capabilities with smart process design, clear roles, responsibilities and data definitions. This straddles the whole life cycle, from strategy and architecture work, proactively bringing in ideas and planning out a roadmap, over focused delivery of projects, to ensuring a proper handover to production, periodic monitoring of effective usage and compliance, as well as supporting the ongoing maintenance and evolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate HR business requirements into scalable and sustainable technology solutions within Workday Security and HCM domains.
- Lead the analysis, design, configuration, and documentation of Workday Security and HCM solutions, ensuring compliance with internal policies and best practices.
- Facilitate design and discovery workshops with stakeholders to define optimal solutions while considering platform capabilities, architectural standards, and long-term maintainability.
- Independently configure and maintain Workday functionality across the relevant domains, including supporting testing activities.
- Collaborate with internal IT teams and external vendors to deliver enhancements and issue resolution.
- Continuously monitor new Workday features and releases, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance HR processes and deliver additional value to the organization.
- Define and maintain the product roadmap for the respective Workday domain, prioritizing enhancements and initiatives using agile delivery methodologies.
- Establish and enforce governance and design standards to maintain the integrity, scalability, and security of the overall Workday platform, in close collaboration with other HRIS product owners.
- Enable operational excellence by supporting the creation of training materials and knowledge articles, ensuring first-level support teams are equipped to handle common inquiries and routine maintenance tasks.
- Act as the second-level functional and technical support for the assigned Workday domains, investigating complex issues and coordinating escalations with Workday or external partners when necessary.
- Manage periodic access reviews and security audits, ensuring appropriate role-based access and segregation of duties.
Qualifications, Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Information Technology, alternatively a strong background in Workday HCM and Security
- Proven experience (>3 years) in Workday HCM/Security; certification is a plus
- Solid understanding of internal control frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., SOX) and their implications for design security, access management, and audit readiness.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into system configurations
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams
