Regional Counsellor
Salary: £25,200–£28,000
Location: Covering Swansea, Neath & Port Talbot
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm
Responsibilities
- Conduct one-to-one or group counselling sessions to support clients in identifying individual needs and barriers to learning and progression.
- Adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy and apply the BACP good practice principles.
- Advise learners on the benefits of further education, well‑being and personal development.
- Establish a relationship of trust and respect through active listening and empathy.
- Facilitate workshops and organising talks with external partners to promote further education and well‑being.
- Develop and maintain external working partnerships to share best practice, signpost clients and arrange referrals or workshops.
- Record and maintain confidential records, meetings and other documents in compliance with data protection and confidentiality arrangements.
- Act as the designated Safeguarding Officer and carry out all related responsibilities and duties.
- Engage in continuous professional development to maintain up‑to‑date practice and competence.
Qualifications
- Essential
- Recognised diploma or degree in Counselling.
- Experience working with young people and adults in a counselling setting.
- Member of the BACP or equivalent professional body.
- Capability to work using an integrated approach to counselling.
- Knowledge and understanding of the BACP or BABCP Code of Ethics.
- Knowledge of CORE or equivalent outcome measures.
- Full driving licence.
- Desirable
- Accredited membership of BACP or equivalent.
- Fluency in Welsh.
- Knowledge of the training industry.
