Job Description:

We’re looking for an experienced and technically skilled Project Engineer with a strong background in industrial electronics, E&I systems, and hands-on experience with Modicon PLCs. This role involves leading capital and maintenance projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring technical deliverables are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support engineering projects within a chemical manufacturing facility
  • Design, implement, and maintain E&I systems
  • Manage project documentation, timelines, budgets and change orders
  • Troubleshoot and optimize Modicon PLC-based control systems
  • Conduct field inspections, equipment evaluations and participate in commissioning activities
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, loop diagrams and panel layouts
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to scope, plan and execute projects
  • Manage high-level troubleshooting of instrumentation issues to support 24×7 operations
  • Ensure compliance with relevant chemical industry regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards
  • Identify technical risks and propose solutions to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Support outage work related to instrumentation reliability
  • Support procurement, vendor coordination, installation supervision, vendor submittals and specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 3-7 years of experience in a project engineering role, preferably in a chemical or process manufacturing plant
  • Proficiency with industrial control systems and Modicon PLCs
  • Experienced in industrial electronics, instrumentation and control logic
  • Proven history of documentation under regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with SCADA/HMI systems in batch or continuous chemical processes preferred
  • Experience managing small to mid-size capital projects ($50k-$2m) desired
  • Understanding of chemical process safety, PHA and MOC systems helpful
  • Knowledge of applicable standards such as NEC, ISA and NFPA preferred
