Controls Technician / Controls EngineerSalary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annumFull-time | PermanentBirminghamA well-established and growing manufacturing and engineering group is seeking an experienced Controls Technician / Controls Engineer to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic, hands-on environment where you will contribute to the design, build and support of bespoke control systems.The RoleYou will be responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of control system projects — from initial client discussions through to design, testing and site support.Key responsibilities include:Liaising with clients to define system specifications and project requirementsAssisting with the preparation of quotationsDesigning electrical schematics in line with relevant electrical and safety standardsDesigning control panel and cabinet layoutsProducing Bills of Materials (BOMs)Developing PLC and HMI software (SCADA experience advantageous but not essential)Configuring instrumentation, VFDs and associated control equipmentTesting equipment for electrical safety and operational compliance prior to dispatchPreparing technical documentation and manualsSupporting control panel builds in the workshop when requiredProviding technical support to internal teams and associated companiesDelivering remote/telephone technical supportAttending site visits when required for commissioning and system supportDiagnosing and fault-finding control system issues on machinerySupporting general workshop and light administrative duties within a small business environmentAbout YouThe successful candidate will:Be motivated to develop and expand their technical skillsetDemonstrate a strong commitment to working safelyTreat colleagues and clients with professionalism and respectTake pride in delivering high-quality work and customer serviceBe proactive, organised and comfortable working in a hands-on engineering environmentWhat’s on OfferCompetitive salary of £40,000 – £45,000 depending on experiencePerformance-based recognitionOngoing training and career development opportunitiesA supportive and collaborative working environmentClear progression opportunities within a growing organisationFair and inclusive employment practicesThis is an excellent opportunity for a practical, solution-focused Controls Engineer who enjoys variety, responsibility and working closely with both customers and production teams.If you are interested in please contact Jodie Hodgson at Pertemps….
