Job Description:

About AssetCool AssetCool is addressing one of the most pressing challenges in the global energy transition – grid congestion. By combining cutting-edge grid robotics with breakthrough materials science, our technology transforms the physical performance of the grid in situ, increasing current-carrying capacity by up to 30%, at just 5% of the cost and in a tenth of the time compared to conventional approaches.

In addition to enhancing capacity, our solutions tackle other grid constraints including corrosion, electrical noise, and enable the collection of high-value data to build accurate, predictive digital twins. This technology is proving transformative and is being adopted at an accelerating pace, with deployments across Canada, Slovenia, the UK, and the USA, and a strong global deployment pipeline.

Backed by international investors from the US, mainland Europe, and the UK, we are proud to be one of the most innovation-focused companies in the UK energy sector.

We’re looking for ambitious, mission-driven individuals who are excited to work hard alongside their colleagues to build and deploy world-leading technology that tackles some of the planet’s most urgent infrastructure challenges.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a cutting-edge robotics developer, where innovation, precision, and quality are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Engineering Buyer with extensive experience in NPI buying and supporting engineering teams in product design and development. Manage the full procurement process for specialist components, materials, and services used in robotic design, development and manufacturing. Survey the market and identify suitable suppliers from sourcing sample parts to developing to commercial supply. Actively participate in engineering design discussions, advising on commercially viable component choices, suggesting suitable alternatives, and helping standardise parts to optimise cost, availability, and manufacturability. Support new product development (NPD/NPI) by sourcing new and innovative parts and ensuring procurement aligns with engineering requirements. Work closely with engineering, production, and planning teams to ensure materials are available to meet development projects and production deadlines. Identify opportunities to reduce costs, negotiate competitive terms, and improve supplier performance. Monitor and report on supplier quality, delivery, and reliability. Use ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing activity, maintain accurate stock levels, and ensure data integrity. Collaborate with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure timely ordering of overseas materials, considering lead times and international compliance requirements. Monitor and report on supplier reliability, and lead times in partnership with the Logistics team.

Proven experience in an Engineering/Technical Buyer, Procurement, or Supply Chain role within an engineering environment (robotics, automation, or high-tech sectors advantageous). Strong technical understanding, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Fast-growing startup with significant industry traction and large-scale projects. Collaborative, innovation-driven team with exciting career growth opportunities. Competitive salary, and flexible work options
