Band 5 Junior Programmer Analyst

Join University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust as a key member of the Wolfson EQA Software (WES) development team. In this junior training role you will support software development, configuration and system maintenance while progressing to become a specialist programmer analyst under senior supervision.

The role involves analysing, designing, programming and configuring WES systems, testing and checking data entry, and collaborating with Clinical Laboratories and support staff to resolve queries. You will also support system releases, upgrades, and ensure new equipment does not compromise existing performance.

Main duties of the job

  • Investigate and resolve day‑to‑day WES issues under guidance.
  • Perform extensive testing of changes before release to live operation.
  • Support WES team during system releases and upgrades.
  • Test whether new equipment or technology introduced maintains performance and reliability.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English.
  • Degree in IT, science or numerical subjects.

Experience

  • Significant experience using MS Office applications.
  • Previous experience working in a team.
