About the role
The Head of Business Operations – Student and Registry Services is a senior enabling role responsible for strengthening the effective running of the SRS division and ensuring business management arrangements support strategic, operational and regulatory priorities. Working closely with the Executive Director of Student and Registry Services, the UCL Registrar, and the SRS Senior Leadership Team, the postholder will provide coordination, structure and assurance across divisional operations. The role will oversee key business management activities including planning, finance, governance, operational reporting, procurement, risk management and continuous improvement. The postholder will also coordinate cross‑divisional initiatives, support the implementation of change, and help embed effective ways of working across the division, while working closely with leads across SRS and managing one direct report.

About you
The postholder will bring significant experience in business operations, operational management or senior service management within a large organisation. They will demonstrate strong financial, governance and operational management capability, including experience supporting budgeting, workforce planning, procurement, risk management, audit and senior‑level decision‑making. Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills are essential, alongside the ability to influence across matrix environments, present complex information clearly, and build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. The role also requires excellent analytical, organisational and problem‑solving abilities, with experience using data and management information to support decision‑making and improve processes. Candidates should be able to manage multiple priorities effectively and support continuous improvement initiatives. Experience within higher education professional services and familiarity with student or registry‑related operations would be advantageous, alongside experience applying project management approaches to operational change and cross‑functional initiatives.
