Summary

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust involves connecting with guests, inspiring them, and ensuring they have the best experience at Sheffield Park.

Working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am‑5pm, with occasional weekend duties roughly one weekend per five weeks in line with the duty‑manager rota or event needs.

What you’ll be doing

As the Visitor Experience Officer you will provide excellent service, welcome visitors, inspire them to explore Sheffield Park, devise and run events and activities, create interpretive displays and other storytelling elements, encourage visitors to examine artworks and objects, supervise volunteers, support rotas, check presentation standards, and support web content.

You will also be on the duty‑management rota, acting as the main contact for staff, volunteers and customers during opening hours in case of emergency, enquiry or complaint.

Who we’re looking for

  • Used to multiple deadlines and self‑management of workload.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with attention to detail.
  • Good at communicating with all types of people.
  • Hard‑working, committed team player.
  • Comfortable with IT – Microsoft Office, web and social media.
  • Experience producing interpretive materials, such as displays, exhibitions and marketing materials.
  • Familiar with health and safety procedures.
