What’s involved with this role:
Provide the strategic and operational leadership, with large scale budget responsibility to achieve excellence in the delivery of our asset and compliance approaches for the Councils owned housing stock, ensuring that resources are delivering timely and considerate value for money outcomes for residents.
Qualifications:
- Relevant professional qualification, degree or equivalent experience in housing, asset management, construction, property, surveying or a related discipline
Skills & Experience required:
- Significant senior-level experience leading a large housing asset management function, ideally within the social housing sector
- Extensive experience of housing development and construction programmes
- Strong background in strategic asset management, investment planning and stock performance
- Experience managing planned, cyclical and responsive repairs and maintenance services
- Proven track record of leading organisational change and service improvement initiatives
- Experience of risk management, performance management and governance within a housing environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading our asset management teams to deliver safe, decent, energy efficient homes that meets the needs of modern living, maximising social value and value for money.
- To deliver a Social Housing Asset Management programme that is aligned to Newcastle City Council Housing Strategy. Ensuring that the programme complies with the requirements of our various regulators and meet the legal requirements of a Local Authority Registered Provider (LARP).
- Be accountable for the Asset Management Teams with responsibility for neighbourhood planning, investment planning, asset management, divestment and economic performance and driving the timely and effective delivery of the cyclical and planned maintenance programme.
- Be responsible for defining capital investment requirements to ensure continued compliance and develop a suitable investment programme. Maximising access to funding opportunities to fund housing and neighbourhood development.
- To be accountable for the strategic and operational standards through establishment of clear business goals, ensuring continued evaluation, service improvement and management of risk.
- To maintain positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and communities to ensure Council and Directorate strategic priorities are effectively communicated and implemented.
