Senior Process Safety Consultant

Location: Knutsford, Cheshire.

Role Overview

The Senior Process Safety Consultant will support consultancy activities by delivering robust process safety solutions to internal and external clients. Duties include ensuring work is performed to the highest technical standard, managing project plans, costs, and timelines, developing commercial proposals, conducting risk assessments, and maintaining safety case reports.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the Consultancy group to provide robust process safety solutions.
  • Ensure work is carried out to the highest technical standard and in accordance with the agreed project plan, costs, and timescales, thereby meeting client needs, generating repeat business, and improving the company’s reputation while maintaining profitability targets.
  • Develop commercial proposals and understand client requirements and the hours required to complete projects.
  • Undertake risk assessments, HAZAN, HAZOP, FMEA, and LOPA for major hazard – COMAH sites.
  • Update safety case reports.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of DSEAR/ATEX, hazardous area classification equipment, and design.
  • Understand radiation shielding and radiation area classification.
  • Conduct ALARP studies and consequence modelling.
  • Apply knowledge of human factors.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
  • Excellent knowledge of environmental legislation and policy.
  • Professional affiliation with or membership of an appropriate body.
  • Relevant experience in a consultancy environment or other relevant industry experience.
  • Experience of providing competent advice to clients and colleagues.
  • Expert knowledge of process safety regulations.
  • Experience of liaising with competent authorities.
  • Experience in environmental planning and permitting is desirable.
  • Customer‑focused, striving for excellence through understanding, anticipating, and meeting the needs of others.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365, including OneDrive and SharePoint, and proficient use of Word and Excel.
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK.
  • Full UK/EEC driving licence.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate will need to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) clearance level.
