Job Description:

Security Program Manager, AWS DC Security

Job ID: 10454701 | Amazon Data Services UK Limited

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. AWS DC Security is looking for a Security Program Manager (SPM) to join our team. This is a partially hands‑on role responsible for physical security hardware across data centers and support facilities in the Thames Valley region — from design and installation through to maintenance and compliance.

The Role

You will be an individual contributor on a team of three SPMs, working directly with Data Center Security Managers (DCSMs), Data Center Operations teams, and internal and external stakeholders. You will oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of physical security systems including Access Control, Intrusion Detection, CCTV, and Passive and Active Barriers. This covers new data centers, expansions, support facilities, and special security programs — all consistent with AWS security standards. You will work with limited guidance, lead projects, develop solutions, author security design documentation and contracts, and manage vendor relationships to ensure industry-leading systems are deployed and maintained.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage the physical security design and system installation lifecycle for new facilities, expansions, and special projects.
  • Provide project management including bid packages, specifications, drawings, code compliance, budget, vendor management, change orders, and close‑out documentation.
  • Coordinate fault tickets and maintenance tasks with a team of vendor engineers, ensuring security devices are properly maintained.
  • Own and track high value security project budgets, manage spend, budget variance, and cost reduction targets.
  • Lead system testing, acceptance, sign-off, and operational readiness validation for high-security facilities, in conjunction with other AWS teams.
  • Report performance metrics including vendor service delivery, costs, fault repair rates, and security program analysis.
  • Collaborate across teams to drive global, regional, and local security initiatives. Provide physical security analysis and recommend program enhancements.

This role involves approximately 50% daytime travel within the Thames Valley region.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working on physical security design and implementation of Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and CCTV surveillance systems.
  • Experience overseeing security operations and working with security vendors/contractors.
  • Experience as a general contractor and in vendor management (request for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFI/submittal tracking) associated with construction and project execution.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications, or experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following domains: access‑control system and methodology, network security, application‑and‑system‑development security, security architecture and models, cryptography, and operations security.
  • Experience in application security architecture, security code reviews, security testing, incident response, or security infrastructure.
  • CISSP, CISA, CISM or other security certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or experience in project management.

You will need to be a UK national and able to obtain and maintain a UK Government Security Clearance. Further details: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels
