Financial Controller | Leading Trading Firm (Crypto) | London
Pearse are excited to have partnered with one of the world’s leading trading firms in the digital assets space, as they scale their finance function with a key Financial Controller hire.
Having now scaled headcount to almost 150 across their UK headquarters, Asia and the US, they are providing liquidity across all major cryptocurrency exchanges and trading platforms and have established themselves as one of the global leaders in the market.
The role
This is an opportunity to join some of the industry’s brightest and best in a high-performance trading environment. The position will be a key figure in the finance team, reporting directly to their CFO and will play a significant role in supporting growth and building a robust, automated function.
Key responsibilities
- Play a key role in developing a highly automated, scalable accounting function that delivers accurate monthly Management Reports within a 5‑day close cycle.
- Own revenue accounting and reconciliation processes, working closely with trading and middle office teams
- Manage group‑level accounting, including intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Support with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) including scenario modelling to support with broader strategic decision making
- Continuously enhance and optimise reconciliations across the balance sheet and P&L, ensuring financials are fully accurate and transparent
- Lead accounting and valuations for the firm’s Ventures arm
- Perform and oversee net capital calculations alongside their US team, ensuring compliance
- Act as a key partner to external auditors to support with the delivery of annual group audits.
- Oversee tax processes and reporting
- Continuous ad‑hoc projects to support the business as they continue to scale
Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Experience in a similar, fast‑paced environment (trading firm, fintech, hedge fund etc.)
- Strong interest in trading and crypto
- Extremely ambitious with a desire to keep developing
- Advanced Excel skillset
- High attention to detail
- Previous experience with NetSuite
- Having implemented best‑in‑class automation systems
- Previous professional crypto experience
