We are recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a well-established construction business delivering refurbishment, retrofit and planned maintenance projects across the Midlands.
This is a key position responsible for ensuring the business maintains the highest standards of health, safety and compliance across multiple live construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the business.
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with all current Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
- Prepare, review and update health and safety policies, procedures and documentation.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, producing reports and implementing corrective actions.
- Advise Directors, Managers and Site Teams on health and safety best practice.
- Produce RAMS guidance and review contractor documentation.
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and health & safety training where required.
- Liaise with clients, principal contractors and external regulatory bodies.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Maintain ISO and health & safety management systems where applicable.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ Health & Safety experience within the construction industry (essential).
- Experience working on refurbishment, planned maintenance or general construction projects.
- Retrofit, SHDF, PAS 2030/2035 or decarbonisation project experience would be a distinct advantage.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
- Membership of IOSH (GradIOSH/CMIOSH desirable).
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and current UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel to sites across the Midlands.
