Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Felling, Gateshead.

As a Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will work with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with learning disabilities, providing assistance with daily activities and emotional support.
  • Build meaningful relationships with clients and their families.
  • Participate in a 24‑hour care model, working days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and sleep‑in shifts as required.
  • Assist in community outings, such as local clubs and discos, and support client participation in social activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A genuine passion for supporting others.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Driver licence and willingness to drive as required.
  • All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.

Contract Options

  • Part‑time: 30 hrs per week.
  • Shift times: Days (08:00–21:00, plus sleep‑in) and Waking Nights (21:00–07:00).
  • Sleep‑in available with an enhanced flat‑rate payment of £64.20.
