Job Description:

Foster Care Associates (FCA) is recruiting a Referrals Officer for our Sheffield office. The role focuses on managing referrals from local authorities, matching children to foster families, and serving as the primary contact between authorities, families, and social workers. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has strong communication and administrative skills and wants to make a difference in the lives of children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Manage referrals received from local authorities, using key information and matching criteria.
  • Use initiative and work independently to find creative solutions to foster placement requests.
  • Act as the first point of contact between local authorities, foster families and social workers.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues inside and outside the agency using written and face‑to‑face communication.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience of working in a children’s services sector may be an advantage, though not essential.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Passion and motivation to make a difference to the lives of children and their families.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
