Senior Site Manager – HMP Glasgow
We’re looking for a Senior Site Manager to join our HMP Glasgow team based in Glasgow.
Location: HMP Glasgow – FOH, Glasgow
Hours: 45 per week – some flexibility available.
Visa Sponsorship: This role cannot offer sponsorship.
As part of Kier Construction’s £750 million project to replace Glasgow’s ageing Barlinnie prison with a modern, rehabilitation‑focused facility, you will oversee the delivery of a two‑storey, steel‑frame structure valued at over £45 million. The role involves ensuring safe on‑site delivery of work, managing subcontractors, labour, plant, and materials while adhering to stringent health and safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct subcontractor partners to safely deliver work packages covering groundworks, drainage, structural frame erection, roofing, cladding, interior fit‑out and finishings.
- Ensure quality is maintained to Kier standards through effective supervision of subcontractors and Kier staff on site.
- Coordinate site logistics, movement of plant and labour on and around the site while maintaining safety.
- Review risk assessments and method statements from subcontractors to ensure work methods are safe and appropriate.
- Create, log, and file site reports and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a management role within a large construction environment with a main contractor.
- Strong technical understanding of building construction and the ability to offer practical solutions to emerging challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across a wide range of supply chain stakeholders.
- Genuine focus on health and safety with the confidence to speak up and ensure protocols are followed.
- Relevant construction qualifications (HND/Degree/SVQ or Technical Trade), SMSTS 5‑day certification, CSCS card, first aid certificate, and a full driving licence.
