We are looking to recruit an experienced senior nurse as a Band 7 Epilepsy Specialist Nurse within the Learning Disabilities Division at BCHC.
We are seeking a knowledgeable individual with highly developed interpersonal and excellent communication skills who has a passion for delivering excellence in care and who is committed to driving improvements and developments across both Epilepsy and the wider learning disability Service.
Main duties of the job
Applicants will need to demonstrate an interest in and sound clinical knowledge of neurology disorders, an understanding of the specialist care and management required by patients across the Epilepsy pathway. Whilst the specialist nurse role is predominately community based, the team work closely with the system partners. The applicant will manage a clinical caseload as well as supporting patients, carers and staff with specialist advice, education and training in managing epilepsy and its associated complications.
Qualifications / Training
- RNLD/RNMH
- Post registration Degree
- Educated to Masters Level or willingness to undertake
- Diploma in epilepsy care or equivalent
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Independent non‑medical prescriber
Experience
- Significant experience of working in Learning Disabilities nursing services.
- Significant formal supervision of staff.
- Allocation and delegation of work.
- Extensive working within Multi‑Disciplinary Team.
- Extensive working within Multi‑Agency.
- Extensive experience of working with people who have epilepsy.
- Relevant development of Epilepsy protocols.
