About the role
We are looking for a senior mechanical design engineer to join our growing team based in Glasgow office.
As part of the Engineering Design team you will produce a broad range of conceptual to fully detailed designs covering District and Communal Heating Systems, Energy Centres, Tri‑generation Solutions, and Heat Pumps. You will work on projects at various stages and locations using a range of technologies, and will be involved in initial concept work, site investigations, surveys, client meetings, project submissions, and presentations.
Key responsibilities
- Support the design of distributed energy schemes, energy centres, district heating networks and other major projects
- Interpret, appraise and document client requirements
- Carry out calculations, equipment selection and process operation
- Produce schematics and detailed drawings
- Maintain awareness of cost implications within the design process
- Deal with design issues and minimise their impact
- Ensure compliance with CDM requirements and in‑house processes
- Conduct HAZOP studies and risk assessments
- Assist in specifying mechanical aspects for tendering works
What you will need
- Educated to at least degree level in Mechanical, Building Services or a similar engineering discipline
- Have at least 5+ years of relevant experience
- Design experience in most of the following fields: Building Services, Heat Pumps (Air, water‑source, ground‑source), Boilers/Heating, HVAC, Steam, Air Handling, Cooling, District Heating or similar
- Full UK manual driving licence
