Overview
Compliance Officer (a.k.a. The Person Who Keeps Everything Legal, Safe, and Not on the Evening News) plays a vital role in ensuring that every product sourced, sold, and distributed meets the ever‑evolving world of regulatory compliance, product safety and environmental standards across a global supply chain.
They are the calm, collected expert who understands complex legislation (and somehow makes it make sense), keeping the business aligned with UK, EU and Far East regulations— all while ensuring suppliers behave, paperwork behaves even better, and nothing slips through the cracks.
ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance & Governance
They take ownership of product compliance frameworks including EUDR, PPWR, RoHS and the SUP Directive, ensuring everything ticks the right boxes (and none of the wrong ones). They monitor regulatory changes, interpret legislation, and translate it into practical, business‑friendly guidance—no legal jargon overload required.
Supplier Compliance & Risk Management
They work closely with suppliers across the UK, Europe, China and Southeast Asia, making sure compliance isn’t just promised— it’s proven. They lead due diligence, supplier audits and risk assessments, ensuring ethical and compliant sourcing at every step.
Documentation & Audit Readiness
They keep technical files, declarations of conformity, certifications and testing documentation in pristine condition— because auditors love a well‑organised trail. They maintain compliance logs, records and reporting processes that are always ready for inspection (no last‑minute panic required).
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
They partner with Buying, Category and Product Development teams to embed compliance into decisions from day one— not as an afterthought. They provide training and updates across the business, ensuring everyone stays informed, compliant and mildly impressed.
Continuous Improvement
They identify compliance risks before they become real problems, drive corrective actions, and continuously improve processes— because “good enough” isn’t really their style.
What They Bring to the Table
An experienced product compliance professional with strong exposure to international supply chains, they understand the ins and outs of regulatory frameworks, certification processes and supply chain risk management.
They are highly organised, detail‑focused and analytically sharp— capable of juggling documentation, deadlines and global stakeholders without breaking a sweat.
Bonus points if they bring experience in consumer goods, retail or office products, along with knowledge of REACH, WEEE, FSC or PEFC, and experience implementing compliance management systems. xwzovoh
In Short
They keep the products compliant, the suppliers accountable, the documentation flawless and the business out of trouble— quietly ensuring everything is done by the book… even when the book keeps changing.
