Role Description
The Commercial Pump Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. This role involves installing, commissioning, servicing, and maintaining commercial pump systems within HVAC, chiller, and building services environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving mechanical and hydraulic issues, performing routine inspections, and ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely. The engineer will collaborate with facilities managers and other engineers to provide technical support, recommend improvements, and implement smart and sustainable solutions. The role also includes documenting work carried out, adhering to safety and compliance standards, and contributing to training and knowledge sharing with client engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in commercial pump systems, including installation, maintenance, fault-finding, and repair.
- Experience working with HVAC, chiller, and building services equipment in commercial or industrial environments.
- Solid understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical principles relevant to pump operation and control.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturer documentation.
- Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, diagnostics, and delivering practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Comfort working on-site, sometimes in challenging conditions, with a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with facilities managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to work with and adopt smart technologies, remote monitoring systems, and innovative tools to enhance service quality.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a closely related field.
- Previous experience in commercial pump engineering, building services engineering, or facilities maintenance is highly beneficial.
- Full, valid driver’s license and the ability to travel across the London Area and surrounding regions as required.
