We are now entering a new phase: reimagining our platform with an API-first, agentic architecture designed for scalability, interoperability, and intelligent automation. Our mission is to simplify global logistics through modern, extensible software that evolves with our customers.
Join us as we build the next generation of digital logistics infrastructure.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Southampton for a Lead Software Engineer / Technical Architect.
You will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering a next-generation platform, moving from an existing system to a modern, cloud-native, API-first architecture with agentic capabilities and
MCP support.
This is not a maintenance role — it is a greenfield rebuild with long-term ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical architecture and design of a new platform built for the next 5+ years
- Define and implement a modern development stack (cloud-native, API-first, and event-driven where appropriate)
- Drive the adoption of agentic patterns and intelligent workflows across the platform
- Design scalable, secure, and maintainable microservices or modular architectures
- Establish best practices for CI/CD, testing, observability, and system reliability
- Work hands-on across the stack, particularly in backend systems and integrations
- Collaborate closely with product and domain experts in digital logistics
- Provide technical leadership within a small, high-impact engineering team
- Mentor engineers while maintaining a strong individual contributor role
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating at Senior, Lead, or Architect level in modern software environments
- Strong expertise in distributed systems, system design, and scalable architectures
- Deep experience building API-first platforms and integration-heavy systems
- Hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures, microservices, and containerised environments
- Experience designing systems for long-term scalability and enterprise-grade reliability
- Exposure to or interest in agentic systems, orchestration frameworks, or AI-assisted workflows
- Strong programming expertise in one or more modern backend languages
- Ability to operate effectively in a small, fast-moving, highly autonomous team
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset
- Experience in logistics, supply chain, or freight forwarding systems
- Knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar integration paradigms
- Experience leading platform rebuilds or major architectural transitions
- Familiarity with data pipelines, real-time processing, or workflow automation systems
Why Join Us
- Opportunity to architect and build a platform from the ground up
- High degree of technical ownership and autonomy
- Direct impact on shaping a scalable, enterprise-grade logistics platform
- Long-term scope to define technology strategy over the next 5+ years
