Hourly Rate: Circa GBP 40p/hour (flexible for the right candidate)

Senior Electrical Design Engineer Overview

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer with a building services background to join their design team. This role is suited to someone capable of working independently within a contracting environment, delivering detailed electrical building services designs across commercial and industrial projects.

The position involves design development through to installation, commissioning, and handover, with a strong emphasis on electrical building services and coordination. The successful candidate will also be responsible for compliance with relevant UK regulations.

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer Role Will Involve

  • Produce and review electrical designs for commercial and industrial projects
  • Work independently and manage own workload
  • Prepare technical reports and specifications
  • Carry out Part L energy assessments and ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations
  • Review and verify designs before construction
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and ensure the builder’s work requirements are met
  • Support project delivery through to installation and commissioning

Required Attributes

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within Building Services
  • Able to work independently
  • Solid understanding of electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, and life safety systems
  • Knowledge of Part L assessments and energy compliance
  • Knowledge of Stage 4 design and construction coordination
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Revit experience is beneficial but not essential
