About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Social Work Officer to join our Carers Team. This pivotal role involves undertaking statutory Carers Assessments and Reviews, making a real difference to people caring for Haringey’s vulnerable residents.

As Social Work Officer, You Will

  • Work within a strengths‑based model of practice and hold a non‑complex caseload to support residents to improve independence and wellbeing, collaborating with partners and maximizing community resources.
  • Undertake strengths‑based assessments, reviews, and support planning enabling residents to maximise independence, improve quality of life and build resilience.
  • Provide practical support to residents and carers, including accessing living aids and the welfare benefit system, offering advice and information to service users.
  • Work with adult clients, relatives, carers and communities to help them make informed decisions, clarifying and expressing their needs for support planning.
  • Liaise with colleagues across the Haringey Health and Social Care Partnership to gather information relevant to assessment and support planning.
  • Maintain and update reliable, timely and accurate case notes, systems and other records, writing reports as required to support the Social Worker in information collection and presentation to legal bodies.
  • Undertake reviews of care packages.
  • Contribute to effective multi‑disciplinary team working by participating in meetings and collaborating to achieve best outcomes for service users.
  • Attend safeguarding strategy meetings as required.
  • Complete Continuing Health Care checklists and identify those requiring full assessments.

About The Team

The Carers Team supports Haringey in meeting statutory duties around the assessment, review and ongoing support of unpaid carers. It is a fast‑paced, dedicated team focused on improving outcomes for carers through collaboration with partners, residents and wider adult social care services.

About You

We seek individuals who are conscientious, highly organised, and driven to achieve meaningful outcomes. You will ensure timely and accurate completion of assessments and reviews, maintain clear communication with stakeholders, and uphold high‑quality standards. This role suits those who thrive in dynamic environments and are passionate about making a positive difference.

You will bring a solid understanding of Adult Social Care and a strong grasp of social care ethics, values, and person‑centred practice. You will demonstrate awareness of the needs and experiences of people from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds and be committed to advancing equality, inclusion, and fairness.

You will have strong active listening skills, accurately record information, and work in a strengths‑based, person‑centred way. You will engage with people respectfully, recognise and build on their existing abilities, and contribute to positive, outcome‑focused support, including formulating person‑centred carers support plans.

Proficiency in IT and a commitment to ongoing training and professional development are essential. You can work independently and as part of a team.
