Automation Project Manager

Contract length: 6 months | Inside IR35 | Location: Deeside, Hybrid Working

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Automation Project Manager to join an advanced operations team delivering innovative products and manufacturing technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as engineering and automation project lead for assigned projects
• Serve as primary point of contact for stakeholders, suppliers and vendors
• Develop and manage project documentation including URS, capital proposals, change control and validation plans
• Manage project budgets and authorize vendor payments
• Provide regular updates to stakeholders and leadership
• Support product development with DFM and DFA input
• Lead equipment selection and supplier evaluation
• Manage installation, validation and handover
• Coordinate POP trials and execution
• Support maintenance documentation and best practice
• Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned

Skills and Experience

• Experience in highly automated manufacturing environments
• Knowledge of conversion, lamination, assembly, inspection, packaging and labelling
• Experience with material handling systems and AGVs
• Experience delivering new product introductions
• Understanding of full project lifecycle
• Strong communication and stakeholder management
• Ability to work with cross‑functional and global teams
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills
• High attention to detail and ability to prioritise
• Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or related discipline
• Project management certification such as PRINCE2, PMP or APM preferred
• Lean Six Sigma desirable
• Experience in regulated industries advantageous
