Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join our Group Finance Function as a Finance Business Partner. The role will lead in providing financial analysis and commercial support, providing insightful, meaningful, and timely commercial insight to guide effective decision making. The role is responsible for supporting the delivery of financial results, strategy, budgeting, forecasting and business performance improvements. It partners closely with programme managers, project leads and budget holders, providing clear, timely financial insight to drive effective decision‑making, cost control and operational delivery. The role leads the creation of budgets, forecasts and business cases through robust analysis and modelling, delivers insightful monthly performance reporting, and provides ad‑hoc commercial and scenario analysis. It also strengthens financial models, reporting and insight while acting as a trusted finance partner to operational teams and senior stakeholders across OUP.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have/be:

  • Finance qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Experience of business case development, capital evaluation and planning
  • Initiative to successfully implement new ideas and drive them through
  • Ability to clearly communicate compelling messages, both verbal and written
  • Commitment to continual personal professional development
  • Knowledge in finance tools (including Excel) and technology awareness (desirable)
  • Experience working in a matrix environment, balancing different stakeholder needs (desirable)
