Our client is a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor operating across the South Coast. They specialise in delivering groundworks and infrastructure packages for residential developments, commercial schemes, and large-scale construction projects.
The Role
As Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for overseeing multiple groundwork and infrastructure projects from pre-construction through to final delivery. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
You will act as a key link between site teams, commercial departments, and clients, driving performance and ensuring smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously across the Portsmouth region
- Oversee Site Managers and operational teams
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations
- Monitor project programmes, costs, and resource allocation
- Work closely with commercial teams on budgets, valuations, and cost control
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Identify risks and implement solutions to keep projects on track
- Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity across all sites
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within groundworks or civil engineering
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure and groundwork packages
- Experience managing multiple live projects
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong commercial awareness and programme management ability
- Relevant qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree in Construction/Civil Engineering desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
