Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced, proactive Mental Health Practitioner to manage our Recovery Service in Whalley Range, Manchester.

In this role you will lead a dedicated team that provides person‑centred care for 11 individuals with enduring mental health needs and one with a learning disability. The service focuses on developing skills and confidence for independent living and an active lifestyle, empowering users to self‑manage, remain resilient and work towards strength‑based outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line‑manage the team and support the Service Manager in organisational and staffing duties.
  • Conduct holistic assessments and create support plans, recording all information accurately on the ECCO system.
  • Ensure safe management and administration of medicines.
  • Build trusting relationships with service users, families, and multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Encourage service users to participate in meaningful planning and therapeutic activities.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of recovery principles, mental‑health legislation and best practice interventions (MHA, MCA, DOLs, care standards).
  • Provide proactive communication and risk management to safeguard user welfare.
  • Work flexible shifts on a rota system while upholding professional, credible, and organisational standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 2 years of practitioner experience in mental health settings.
  • Supervisory or management experience, and relevant qualifications, are desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation and best‑practice frameworks.
  • Ability to work independently, be well‑organised and demonstrate leadership and management competencies.
