This is a full‑time, permanent position working 37 hours per week flexibly between 07:00 – 19:00. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. As a Formulation Scientist you will support the client in both manufacturing and R&D efforts by conducting formulation, pre‑formulation activities and analysis and characterization of the samples generated.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the development of oral solid dosage forms through planning and execution of small‑scale manufacturing and pre‑formulation activities, including setting up and operating equipment, completing clean‑downs, and delivering high‑quality laboratory work across blending, compression, coating, encapsulation, and in‑use stability studies.
  • Carry out a range of product and material characterization activities, including particle size analysis, tablet performance testing, powder flow assessments, and evaluation of formulation attributes such as rheology and polymer behavior.
  • Interpret experimental data and translate findings into clear, scientifically robust documentation, contributing to laboratory reports, development protocols, technical summaries, and other project‑critical deliverables.
  • Support the design, prototyping, scale‑up, and optimization of drug product formulations and their associated manufacturing processes, while contributing technical insight to downstream activities such as control strategy development, technology transfer, and launch readiness.
  • Take ownership of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, ensuring routine calibration, upkeep, and troubleshooting, while driving continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining full compliance with ALCOA principles through electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Research, consolidate, and evaluate information from internal reports, pharmacopeial references, scientific literature, and technical databases to inform formulation development, support gap analysis, and enhance scientific decision making across projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline, providing a strong theoretical foundation.
  • Sound and practical understanding of organic chemistry, with the ability to apply core principles to pharmaceutical drug design, molecular evaluation, and experimental interpretation.
  • Experience in material science, supported by familiarity with analytical tools and characterization techniques within a multidisciplinary scientific environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with traditional analytical techniques and modern instrumental methodologies, using equipment such as particle size analyzers, PXRD, DSC, and TGA, alongside a strong working knowledge of analytical methods, data‑handling tools, and scientific best practice.
