Mechanical Design Engineer, £30K – £38K, Grantham, Newark, Melton Mowbray, Nottinghamshire, & Lincolnshire

An established and profitable engineering and manufacturing business is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team.

Work on a diverse range of products, including plant equipment, materials handling systems, precision‑engineered components, and electromechanical solutions.

An ideal role for a Design Engineer who enjoys innovative design, problem‑solving, and design for manufacture (DFM) in a hands‑on engineering environment.

Salary commensurate with experience, 25 days holiday plus all bank holidays, company pension, early finish on a Friday.

This Mechanical Design Engineer job will suit:

• A Design Engineer with a background in Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering.
• Experience in product or equipment design (any of the following is beneficial):
  • Fabrication design.
  • Hydraulics or pneumatics.
  • Capital equipment or plant machinery.
  • Materials handling systems.
• Strong experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks advantageous).
• A proactive problem‑solver who enjoys engineering challenges.
• Qualified to HNC / HND / Degree level (or equivalent experience/apprenticeship).

This Mechanical Design Engineer job will involve:

• Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical products.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks.
• Work on both new product development and existing product improvements.
• Apply design for manufacture (DFM) principles.
• Conduct or support FEA / stress analysis (training available).
• Solve engineering challenges and propose effective technical solutions.
• Provide technical support to customers when required.
